A Day To Relax

Today was our wonderful adventure to Machu Picchu! We had the privilege of waking up at 3:00 in the morning to catch our bus for 3:40 so we could make our train for 6:00. Oh how joyous that was… we woke up to quite a chilly morning, but the day ended up being a gorgeous day that wasn't super hot or super cold. The train ride was indeed luxurious, we had reclining seats, a table to play uno, and the great company of each other to keep us busy. They gave out free complimentary cookies that tasted like drywall, mmm delicious, and overpriced Pringles. It was quite the experience. Once we arrived we walked many many miles to get to the end of our bus line… just kidding but it was quite the line. We enjoyed the views of the streets, shops, and the workers. The bus was not as roomy as the train though, us vertically inclined people had to squeeze tight to fit but that was ok. We had a very exciting and well knowledged guide lead us through Machu Picchu and explain everything with great detail, it was such a thrill to learn the history of the place and really appreciate it. After our tour that lasted between one and two hours we went down to the shops to make our last minute purchases for our friends, family, and also ourselves. Shopping is always fun and they have so much interesting stuff, some good some not so good. After an hour of shopping we got on our return train, this was an interesting ride filled with weird dancing, and fashion shows with a lot of baby alpaca products. That was the end of our fun time in Machu Picchu and we headed home bound. It was indeed a great day, other than the early morning, we all had a lot of fun.

During our long adventurous day Pastor Bill stayed back at ATEK and taught for six hours straight. That is a wild day, he is most definitely a survivor. We all prayed for him to have strength to make it through those six long hours and indeed he did. He even started plastering, sanding, and painting the walls, what a champ. God answered our prayers for Bill and gave him strength to push through.

For our prayer requests Mila’s son is feeling a lot better and is going to school on Monday, praise God! We talked about one of the pastor’s grand daughters and her health and we prayed for her and she also is feeling better. Yay! Pray for strength for the team, and spiritual protection, its when we are weak that the devil attacks and twists our minds. Also keep our translator in your prayers as she grows in her walk with God.

Sunday we head to Haunca Haunca and we aren't doing much there besides participating in their church service, sharing a testimony, and getting a tour of the place.

That's all folks, thanks for the prayers and checking up on us.
Your friend in time,
Jacob Coulstring

  2. I agree with Pat - it is so special for us to see what you have seen - I can't wait to see more! Reading your blog every night is a highlight of my day.
You captured some beautiful pictures. I'm so glad God blessed you with a good trip to Machu Pichu and good weather. Jacob, Gramma and Grampa loved reading your write-up tonight - we all loved the details (and the humour). We are continuing to lift you up in prayer constantly - you are in good hands - His!
